India’s merchandise exports thump geopolitical risks and global trade disruptions

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal reported that India’s merchandise exports grew by 15 percent from April to July in the current financial year, despite challenges like the Red Sea crisis and global instability. He noted that India’s exports showed resilience amid geopolitical tensions and disruptions to trade routes. Mr. Goyal emphasized that this export growth reflects the strength of India's economic fundamentals, even as global markets face uncertainty due to issues like fluctuating oil prices and conflicts in West Asia. He also highlighted that India remains the world's fastest-growing major economy, achieving a growth rate of 7.7 percent in the previous financial year.
