Local stocks sustain gains

The key equity barometers traded with limited gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24287-24187. Nifty IT, Nifty Auto and Nifty Healthcare Index shares advanced, while Nifty Realty and Nifty Chemicals shares declined. NIFTY had edged up 0.04% in last session and is up 1.27% over last one-week. At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, up 9.28 points to 77,663.88. The Nifty 50 index up 3.30 points to 24,253.50. The broader market performed worse than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index edged lower by 0.27% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index lost 0.56%. The market breadth was soft. On the BSE, 1918 shares rose and 2722 shares retreated. A total of 246 shares were unchanged. Nifty IT index rallied 1.33% to 31537. The index has rallied 15.11% in last one month and retreated 12.02% over last one year. Persistent Systems, edging up 2.89%, led the gainers followed by Wipro, adding 2.67% and Tech Mahindra, up 2.17%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today. Nifty Auto index moved higher by 0.90% to 28076. The index has added 5.33% in last one month and jumped 16.48% over last one year. Sona BLW Precis., gaining 4.11%, led the gainers followed by Hero Motocorp, inching higher 3.22% and TVS Motor Co., adding 2.14%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 12 are reporting gains today. Nifty Realty index fell 1.63%. The index has recorded robust gains of 12.16% in last one month and inched down 0.87% over last one year. Prestige Estates, down 3.39%, led the loosers followed by A B Real Estate, slipping 1.92% and DLF, losing 1.89%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting loss today. Asian markets edged higher on Thursday. China’s Shanghai composite is trading lower by 0.59%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is marginally higher by 0.15%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading higher by 0.71%. In Europe, German DAX edged lower 0.15%, UK’s FTSE 100 moved up 0.34% and French CAC posted modest losses of 0.60%. In Commodities, MCX Crude oil ticked up 1.23% to trade at Rs 8,120 per barrel.
